New employees arriving at the White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) will meet a member of the WSTF Security staff at both the Forward Gate and then again at the Main Gate to receive a temporary badge. Employees will meet Security staff again when a permanent badge is issued. The primary function of the Security office is to maintain the access control to the site.
However, the WSTF Security Force has other duties included in their job performances at WSTF, so the new employee should be aware of them. These are:
- Access control, including badging of domestic/foreign visitors and WSTF employees
- Issuance of parking, speed, and other traffic citations
- Building checks
- Issuance of locks and keys to WSTF employees
- Monitor and inspect the Intrusion Detection System
- Conduct investigations as requested
- Present the Annual Security Refresher Briefing
- Provide WSTF contact information/notification during site closures
- Work under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dona Ana County/White Sands Complex/other state or federal entities
- Maintain the WSTF workplace violence program
In addition, new employees are reminded to follow the White Sands Test Facility’s Standard Procedure WSP: 24-0003.D “WSTF Visitor Processing, Control, and Personnel Badging.” S:\\WSP\24-0003.doc.
