First Day Instructions

 
  1. Contact your sponsor and supervisor before your first day to confirm your arrival and to ask any last minute questions..

  2. Be sure that you have completed or provided the items that were requested in your offer letter (e.g., proof of degree, etc.).  If you have not submitted them, you may not be able to start work.

  3. Prior to arrival, review the Federal Health Benefits Plans if you plan to enroll. There are many plans to choose from, and we cannot recommend or chose one for you.  The plan information is available online at http://nasapeople.nasa.gov/employeebenefits/health/default.htm.

  4. Familiarize yourself with the Federal Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).  You will be asked to make decisions about your investment options with investment amounts. http://nasapeople.nasa.gov/employeebenefits/TSP/default.htm

  5. Bring information needed for paycheck (Direct Deposit).  This will include your account number and your bank’s routing code on the bottom of your personal check.

  6. Arrive at NASA/Johnson Space Center White Sands Test Facility’s Main Gate to receive your temporary employee badge from the security desk.  (For directions to White Sands Test Facility click here).  Plan on arriving by 7:00 a.m. 

  7. Pay attention to your Security briefing.  Like all vehicles entering NASA facilities, your vehicle may be subject to search.  Do not bring weapons, hazardous materials or pets or take pictures on NASA Road.

  8. Once you receive your badge, your supervisor/sponsor will escort you to In-Processing with Patsy Segura in Building 100, Room 116D, the first building on the right.

  9. At 8:00 a.m., please report back to the Main Gate per Orientation Schedule.

  10. After your morning briefings and lunch, report again to Patsy Segura in Building 100, Room 116D, to complete your in-processing.
