New Employee Orientation Workshop

The Organizational Development and Workforce Relations Branch (ODWRB), OHR, formerly EODB began aggressive work in January, 2004 to create an all inclusive web-site which will orient new civil servant employees to the Center. The outline of the site was presented to the Center’s training coordinators to garner ideas and suggestions in early Dec 03. Over the following two months, meetings with managers of OEA, OCIO and LMSSO were conducted to recruit support and assistance in key elements to the site.

ConITS has been selected to create the graphics and implement the site. Requirements review began in early March 04 and ConITS is on schedule for OHR demonstration and evaluation of the templates in mid-May 04. The working web-site is currently scheduled to be on-line in Mid-Jun 04. The site will be most readily accessed through the “Hot @LaRC” section on the @LaRC main page. In addition a link will be provided on the OHR website and eventually a link will be provided on the one-NASA Orientation site scheduled for completion tentatively in late 2005.

The orientation process is separated into three sections, In-processing tasks, Orientation Activities and Required Training. The site is being designed to electronically track new employees as they accomplish each required task, activity and training module. It will also provide electronic notification to their immediate supervisor of their orientation status. The LaRC New Employee Orientation Website is highlighted by virtual welcome briefings, virtual tours, live tours and new training modules never offered in the past to include @LaRC and LMS tutorials and On-line Sexual Harassment training. For informational purposes, the site will be accessible to all center civil servants and many portions will be made available to contractors.
