What is NEO? It's a three day orientation, where we take new employees and co-ops and do the very best job we can at acclimating them to the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and helping them to realize what makes us so unique from all of the other NASA Centers. This experience offers a glimpse of broad missions of KSC across-the-board. It is one that will inspire and captivate the new employees with a brief history of the Center, the changes driven by the vision for exploration, the emergence and commitment to OneNASA, as well as the significance placed on Safety and Awareness by all at KSC.
The purpose of the orientation is to provide the employees with valuable insight at the beginning of their journey into ongoing Centerwide efforts. This orientation will serve as an introduction to what we do, not only as an Agency, but KSC’s primary role in the exploration, discovery, and understanding of a universe beyond our own.
Some of the facilities we tour during this event include, but are not limited to are: Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), Orbital Processing Facility (OPF), Space Station Processing Facility (SSPF), Launch Complex (LC-39) Areas (Pad A&B) and the Expendable Launch Vehicle Facilities (ELVF). With the aide of tour guides, facilitators, and resources, we are able to paint a clear picture of "What we do" here at KSC. |
