SAFETY

Safety is a top priority at JSC. As a new employee we encourage you to become familiar with our safety policy and to get involved with safety programs made available to you.

JSC Safety Policy

  • All mishaps can be prevented.
  • You must remove or control hazards at work.
  • Management will help you maintain a safe workplace.
  • Training employees to work safely is essential.
  • Your continued employment depends on safety and watching out for others.
  • Working safely will result in the best possible performance.

For additional information, please review the JSC Safety and Health Handbook

Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)

The Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is a cooperative program between employees, unions, management, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). JSC is part of the VPP program, and has been awarded the highest designation, STAR.

JSC Safety Action Team (JSAT)

The JSAT promotes employee participation in JSC safety, health, environmental protection, and emergency preparedness programs. It strives to help prevent injury, illness, and loss or damage of property through the resolution of safety and health issues, education or awareness, and engaging in activities such as:

  • Providing an employee-centered assembly of peers to receive complaints involving any safety or health issue.
  • Providing an employee-centered assembly of peers to promote resolution of safety or health issues.
  • Providing safety and health information to workers and recommending safety and health training.
  • Providing inputs to the safety and health program for evaluation.
  • Providing inputs regarding JSC safety and health requirements.
  • Being available to evaluate and provide recommendations regarding close calls and hazards.
  • Supporting Site Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) readiness and audit efforts.
