First Day Experience

The Center is always excited to welcome new employees to the greatest location in the nation Cleveland, Ohio. The combined efforts of several organizations play an important part in making the first day successful by providing briefings on a host of topics such as Safety, Security, Employee Benefits, and training opportunities.

One working day prior to arrival--- the sponsor or supervisor contacts the new employee to offer assistance and insure that they are prepared to report for work. The point of contact will check to make sure the employee successfully downloaded the pre-appointment forms and offer assistance with any questions they might have.

First day arrival---To find the NASA Glenn Research Center you only have to know where the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is located since we are directly across the street. Our unique location provides easy access to Interstate 71 North or South and Interstate 480 East or West. The New Employee Orientation is conducted in the Developmental and Engineering Building # 500 which is located on Brookpark Road. Parking is available in the employee lot adjacent to the east side of the building.

Proceed inside the building to the front desk in the lobby where you will check in with the security personnel who will provide you with a temporary photo ID badge for the day. Make sure your arrival is prompt, the orientation starts at 8:00a.m sharp. You may be inprocessing with a number of other employees and you don’t want to delay them as they await your arrival.

During the course of the day you will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of GLENN employees who will provide important briefings about the Center’s policies as well as personal benefit information which will be invaluable to you.

The orientation is scheduled to end at 3:15 p.m. At the close of the day you will be escorted by your supervisor or mentor to your workplace where you will meet other members of your organization. You will also have the opportunity to settle into your pre-set worksite and access any additional required equipment you might need.

On behalf of the Office of Human Resources and Workforce Planning we would like to welcome you to the

John H. Glenn Research Center .

Chief, Robyn N Gordon
